Reflection

Sitting at Granna's antique vanity, Jayme admired the tiny, hand-painted roses at the top of the mirror. Her eyes drifted down to her own reflection. Her hair lay just below her shoulders. Remembering the family picture in the hall taken before the divorce when her hair had hung just below her chin, Jayme whispered, "Has it been so long?"

With a sigh, she borrowed a clip to pin up her growing mane. Then, she carried herself to her room and knelt by the bed. Beneath her bed, Jayme reached beyond the bed skirt to retrieve a box, the contents of which she had been determined to leave packed until the time that her parents would grow to love each other again and move the family back to their home.

"It's time to unpack."
