...Witch and Wizard by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet. This is a great adolescent lit novel. The plot is compelling and moves quickly within the short, suspenseful chapters. I enjoy the supernatural elements, and as a reader, I enjoy the fly-on-the-wall experience as the characters learn about their hidden, inherent powers throughout the course of the novel. That aspect reminds me of the Harry Potter character. The dystopian theme of this book also reminds me of 1984 by George Orwell. However, this novel is much more easy to understand for middle school-age readers. The message is clear: Vote! Beware of the rising of tyrannical government!
