The Gift: Art, Imagination, and the Power of the Creative Spirit by Lewis Hyde. I am on the third chapter of this book, and it is amazing. Hyde presents historical cultural information about the cycle of gift giving around the world and discusses the gift as it compels and inspires all types of artists. I recommend this book for anyone who writes, reads, illustrates, creates.... for anyone who is human.
